Intel changes its leadership in China: The person who knows the business in China the best is leaving.
On September 16, Intel announced that Wang Rui, the Chairman of Intel China, will retire this month. Intel stated that this is part of the planned management transition since the appointment of Wang Zhichong in February this year. Wang Rui is the first female Chairman of Intel China, having joined Intel in 1994 and serving as the General Manager of Intel's Huawei Global Customer. She has also held positions such as General Manager of Technical Support Business Unit, Vice President of Platform Engineering Business Unit and General Manager of Converged Signals IP Solutions Business Unit. In 2021, Wang Rui was appointed as the Chairman of Intel China. In the latest statement, Intel stated, "Wang Rui has redefined Intel's China strategy, upgraded the organizational structure, led a number of new initiatives, promoted deep collaboration with global operations, and enhanced support for the Chinese market." Internal staff at Intel have praised Wang Rui, saying "she is the executive who understands the business in China the best, and under her leadership, the Intel China leadership team has been given greater empowerment." When Wang Rui took over as Chairman in 2021, she mentioned in an interview that Intel is establishing a mechanism internally to make the market demands in China an integral part of global planning. "Previously, it was about bringing the most advanced technology from the U.S. to the market, but we are fundamentally incorporating the needs of China into Intel's long-term planning."
