Insider: the announcement of the EU's new sanctions against Russia has been indefinitely postponed.
According to reports citing a European diplomat and an official from a member state of the European Union, the European Commission will not announce the next round of sanctions against Russia as originally planned on September 17, and the announcement has been indefinitely postponed. These sources said that the 19th round of restrictions on Russia "is not expected to be announced on Wednesday." Currently, the European Commission has not revealed a new potential date for the formal implementation of these sanctions. The report noted that this delay is related to a shift in focus for the EU, as they are transitioning from "implementing new sanctions against Russia" to "pressuring Slovakia and Hungary to reduce their dependence on Russian oil."
