On September 16 at 12:12, with the takeoff of flight GJ8557, Xi'an Airport opened the direct flight to Dushanbe, with flights operating every Tuesday and Friday. In addition, on September 21, Xi'an Airport will also open a direct flight to Bangkok, with flights operating every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The air network from Xi'an to Central Asia and Southeast Asia has doubled in capacity, further enhancing Xi'an Airport's international aviation hub radiation capabilities. As of now, Xi'an Airport has reopened and opened a total of 59 international passenger routes, connecting 52 major cities in 25 countries, and linking 34 destinations in 19 countries along the "Belt and Road" initiative. Especially in the direction of Central Asia, it has connected important cities such as Almaty, Samarkand, Bishkek, and Tashkent, achieving full coverage in the five Central Asian countries. As of August 31, Xi'an Airport has served 1.306 million international passengers, with a year-on-year growth of over 55%, including 103,000 passengers from Central Asia, an increase of 48.7% compared to last year. It is estimated that the annual international passenger throughput will exceed 2 million by 2025.
