The response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the U.S. request for NATO to impose taxes on China
Today, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian presided over a routine press conference. A reporter asked about recent US demands for G7 and NATO members to collectively impose tariffs on China based on Chinese imports of Russian oil, in order to push China to play a role in ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. What is China's response to this? Lin Jian stated that the US actions are a typical case of unilateral bullying. China's position on the Ukraine crisis has been consistent and clear. Dialogue and negotiation are the only viable solution to the Ukraine crisis. From the first day of the crisis, China has maintained an objective and impartial position, and has consistently advocated for peace and dialogue. China firmly opposes illegal unilateral sanctions and extraterritorial jurisdiction imposed on China. If China's legitimate rights and interests are harmed, China will resolutely counteract and firmly defend its sovereignty, security, and development interests.
