The total economic output of Beijing increased by approximately 1.4 trillion yuan in five years.
On September 15th, the press conference on the achievements of economic and social development in the "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan" period in Beijing was held. Yang Xiuling, Director of the Development and Reform Commission of Beijing, introduced that over the past five years, the city has adhered to the principle of seeking progress while maintaining stability, implemented targeted and effective counter-cyclical adjustments, and introduced a series of measures to stabilize growth. As a result, the economic strength of Beijing has seen a significant increase, with the regional GDP expected to surpass 5 trillion RMB and an economic increment of about 1.4 trillion RMB in five years, equivalent to the total economic output of a district like Haidian. In terms of quality and efficiency of development, the city has achieved significant improvement. By 2024, the per capita GDP is expected to reach $32,000, and the labor productivity per person will be 444,000 RMB, ranking first among all provinces and municipalities. Various indicators such as energy consumption per unit of GDP, water consumption, and carbon emissions are also at the best level in the country. The average annual growth rate of regional GDP from 2021 to 2024 is 5.2%, achieved amid various risks and challenges, and in the context of reducing development, paving a new path for the transformation and development of super-large cities in China.
