According to Korean media ETNews, NVIDIA has decided to cancel the promotion of the first generation SOCAMM and shift the focus of technology development to the new generation product SOCAMM2. This adjustment aims to further optimize the performance of memory modules and better adapt to the needs of AI servers. It is understood that SOCAMM technology was initially positioned as a new high-bandwidth, low-power memory solution for AI servers, with the design goal of providing performance similar to HBM while effectively reducing costs. Therefore, since the launch plan was announced, it has received wide attention from the industry. Earlier, NVIDIA had already included SOCAMM-related information in the product documents. The GB300 NVL72 specification table showed that the product can support up to 18TB of LPDDR5X-based SOCAMM, with a bandwidth of up to 14.3 TB/s.
