Leader in charge of the National Development and Reform Commission answers questions from journalists on the Overall Plan for the Three-North Shelterbelt Project.

According to the Wisdom Financial APP, the State Council Office recently issued the "Overall Plan for the Three-North" project. In order to promote the implementation of the plan, responsible officials from the National Development and Reform Commission were interviewed and answered questions from reporters. Compared with the 1989 version of the plan, five key revisions were made: first, the ecological civilization thought of Xi Jinping and the important instructions and directives of General Secretary Xi Jinping on the "Three-North" project were fully implemented in the plan. Second, the main direction of sand control and desertification prevention was highlighted, enriching indicators such as forest and grass coverage rate and desertification land management. Third, the requirements for joint defense and joint governance were implemented, and the coverage areas of project construction were appropriately expanded. Fourth, the overall protection and systematic management of mountains, waters, forests, fields, lakes, grasslands, and sands were coordinated, and key tasks such as restoring degraded grasslands, managing desertified land, protecting and restoring wetlands, and using solar power to control desertification were expanded. Fifth, the implementation of the plan was strengthened, and supporting policies such as work coordination and factor guarantee were improved.
