Two industry surveys released on Monday showed that asking prices for homes in the UK fell annually for the first time since January 2024, while the annual rent increase was the smallest in four years. Rightmove's September survey showed that asking prices for properties for sale fell by 0.1% compared to the same period last year. The survey was conducted from August 10 to September 6. Although prices rose by 0.4% compared to the previous month, the increase was smaller than the normal level for the same period in previous years, and had been declining for the past three months. Another survey from Zoopla showed that average rents rose by 2.4% compared to the same period last year in the four weeks leading up to September 2, the smallest increase in four years, with the average monthly rent currently at 1,300.
