South Korean media: South Korea will investigate incidents of human rights violations against its citizens detained in the United States.
According to the report by Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on the 14th that it will thoroughly investigate the human rights violations experienced by South Korean citizens detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency and take necessary measures. The report quoted a source from the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs as saying that the South Korean government has expressed regret to the U.S. since the incident of the South Korean citizen being arrested in the U.S., and has continuously demanded that the rights of South Korean citizens should not be improperly violated during the enforcement process. An official from the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that they will conduct a joint investigation with the company to which the detainee belongs to determine if there were any unjust actions that violated the human rights or other rights of the individual during this incident. On the same day, Yonhap News Agency exposed a "detention diary" of the detainee, which documented multiple instances of unjust and harsh treatment, such as poor living conditions during detention and mockery from U.S. personnel towards the detainee.
