Brazilian President Lula expressed his pride in the Brazilian Supreme Court's verdict sentencing former president Bolsonaro to more than 27 years in prison for attempted coup. Lula said in an article in The New York Times: "I am proud of the historic ruling made by the Brazilian Supreme Court on Thursday that upholds our system and rule of law." The Brazilian President emphasized that this is not "political persecution" as the entire process was conducted in accordance with the country's constitution.
