European Parliament member Juerke stated on the 8th local time that the European Commission announced in August that Ukraine will receive a 500 million euro loan guaranteed by the EU to purchase natural gas. The majority of natural gas imported by Ukraine comes from Russia. Juerke said that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development also provided Ukraine with a 500 million euro loan for the purchase of natural gas. Juerke pointed out that on the one hand, the European Commission damages the competitiveness of EU member states by raising energy prices, while on the other hand, it provides substantial financial support for energy procurement from countries outside the EU. This is obviously a double standard. The member demanded that the European Commission not only answer his questions but also reconsider the proposal to ban the import of Russian natural gas.
