The Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on September 8 that the number of bankrupt companies in Japan in August was 805, an increase of 11.3% from the same period last year, marking the third consecutive month of year-on-year growth. Of these bankruptcies, 55 were due to soaring prices. In terms of industries, the service industry, including the food and beverage sector, had the highest number of bankruptcies at 242. The construction industry saw an increase of 44.6% to 175 bankruptcies.
