It was previously reported that Samsung plans to supply image sensors for Apple's iPhone 18 series in 2027, challenging Sony's long-standing monopoly in the field. However, well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo indicated last Sunday that there have been changes to the plan, and the sensors that were originally expected to go into production in 2026 may now be delayed until 2027. He did not disclose the reason for the delay. Analysts noted that although Samsung has accumulated years of experience in supplying components such as screens, DRAM, and NAND, it still needs to prove its technical capabilities to Apple in the field of camera image sensors. In addition, Kuo pointed out that Samsung's ultra-wide-angle image sensors are expected to first be introduced in mid-range iPhone models.
