During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Shanghai's three leading industries have set a faster pace.
The three leading industries of artificial intelligence, integrated circuits, and biomedicine in Shanghai are accelerating development, with the industry scale reaching 1.8 trillion yuan by 2024, with an average annual growth rate of 13.1% since the 14th Five-Year Plan. At the "Vitality China Research Tour" Shanghai theme interview briefing held on September 8th, Pu Yapeng, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Economic and Information Commission, introduced that Shanghai is closely following the world's technological frontier in the field of artificial intelligence, initially establishing Asia's largest AI computing power center, with the integrated circuit industry accounting for 30.2% of the national total, and the biomedicine industry receiving one-fourth and one-sixth of the national approvals for first-class innovative drugs and third-class innovative medical devices respectively. It was also introduced that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Shanghai will continue to strengthen the leading role of the leading industries: in artificial intelligence, accelerating "empowering applications" and promoting the development of intelligent computing clusters, model algorithms, high-quality corpora, and software and hardware collaborative innovation; in the integrated circuit industry, promoting "full chain layout" to enhance the competitiveness of the entire industry chain including high-end chip design, specialized processes, packaging testing, core equipment, and key components and materials; in the biomedicine industry, strengthening "source innovation and first release", and forming a first-mover advantage in emerging fields such as cell and gene therapy, synthetic biology, and brain-machine interfaces.
