Chung Yuan Mortgage: In August, the number of new building mortgages in Hong Kong reached 6,629, a 22% increase compared to the previous month, hitting a new high in nearly two years.

According to the Zhongyuan Mortgage App, Wang Meifeng, Managing Director of Zhongyuan Mortgage, stated that based on data from the Zhongyuan Mortgage Research Department, in August 2025, there were 6,629 registered mortgages on existing buildings, an increase of 22.1% from July's 5,429. This is the highest number in the past 23 months since August 23 years ago, mainly due to the recent warming of the property market and increase in transactions. The performance of existing building mortgages has improved, driving the number of existing building mortgages to exceed 5,000 from June to August. The growth in August also came from the registration of mortgages for new housing units in Gao Hongyuan (about 850 units) and Anbeiyuan (about 120 units), an increase from around 500 units in July for Gao Hongyuan.
