Moody's analysis report states that the Australian economy may grow by 0.5% in the quarter ending in June, slightly higher than the slow growth of 0.2% in the quarter ending in March. Moody's indicates that some indicators and the increasing business confidence point to an improvement in the economy. With households responding to policy support measures, consumer spending may have turned a corner. However, Moody's also mentions that the weak public demand in the quarter ending in March may continue to suppress the growth of private demand. Moody's also says that the advance shipments made before the deadline for tariffs may have boosted trade volume, but this effect may be offset by the weak prices of commodities. GDP data will be released on Wednesday.
