On August 23rd, Taiwan's recall campaign "Big Recall" held its second round of voting, and according to the vote count results, none of the 7 seats of Kuomintang representatives were recalled. Following the complete defeat of the first round of "Big Recall" on July 26th and a significant drop in satisfaction with the government's performance, Lai Ching-te encountered another severe blow to public opinion in Taiwan. In response to Lai Ching-te's crushing defeat, many domestic media outlets such as China Times News, NOWnews, and the "Taipei Times" launched reports with titles like "Big Recall Fails Miserably," and "All Recall Cases Rejected" quickly made it to the top of Taiwan's Yahoo News hot list. The "United Daily News" published an editorial stating that "the anti-recall public opinion is thunderous." Domestic analysts pointed out that by ignoring and going against public opinion for a long time, and engaging in political manipulation, the outcome was to be expected. In Tan Zhu's view, the continuous failure of the "Big Recall," resulting in a complete loss, indicates that after one year and three months in office, Lai Ching-te has been completely rejected by domestic public opinion.
