The China Meteorological Administration has initiated a level 4 emergency response to major meteorological disasters.
According to the China Meteorological Administration, the tropical depression in the South China Sea has strengthened on the morning of August 23 and is now the 13th typhoon of the year, named "Swordfish." At 4 pm in the afternoon, its center was located approximately 570 kilometers east of Sanya, Hainan, with maximum winds near the center reaching force 8. It is expected to brush past or make landfall in the southern coast of Hainan Island around evening of the 24th and gradually move towards the central and northern coasts of Vietnam on the 25th morning. Following comprehensive analysis and emergency discussions, the China Meteorological Administration has initiated a level-4 emergency response for major meteorological disasters.
