A groundbreaking ceremony was held for an important railway on the northeast border of Turkey.

The Turkish government held a groundbreaking ceremony for the important border railway, the Kars-Erzurum-Aralk-Diluzyu railway line, in the northeastern city of Erzurum on August 22. According to the Turkish Anadolu News Agency, Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismailolu, said at the ceremony that the railway will strengthen Turkey's geostrategic position and accelerate the achievement of export targets. The report stated that the railway has secured 2.4 billion euros in financing and is a double-track electrified railway designed to transport 5.5 million passengers and 15 million tons of goods annually.
