Reporters learned on August 21 that US District Judge Catherine Williams has ruled that the "Crocodile Demon Island" immigration detention center located in the Florida Everglades can continue to operate but cannot expand or detain new detainees. According to the ruling, within the next 60 days, the immigration detention center must remove all generators, gas, sewage, and waste disposal equipment, and dismantle temporary barriers that obstruct the passage of local indigenous tribes. It is not clear at this time how the detention center will continue to operate if these facilities are removed. (CCTV)
