Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations Fu Cong spoke at the open debate on conflict-related sexual violence in the United Nations Security Council on the 19th, calling for strengthening the prevention and resolution of conflicts to eliminate sexual violence in conflicts. Fu Cong said that the ultimate goal of the agenda to combat sexual violence in conflicts is not only to eliminate sexual violence in conflicts, but also to make the world free of wars. In order to achieve peace, it is necessary to adhere to the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, uphold a common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security perspective, insist on peaceful settlement of disputes, and promote political solutions to hotspot issues. The international community must take action to promote ceasefire and cessation of hostilities, deter violent crimes, and fundamentally avoid harm to women and girls.
