A collapse at a gold mine in northeastern Sudan has resulted in 4 deaths, 8 injuries, and several people missing.

On August 15th, local time, Sudan Ariab Mining Company issued a statement saying that a collapse occurred at the Karlois gold mine in the northeastern Red Sea state of Sudan operated by the company, resulting in the death of 4 miners, injuring 8 others, and several other miners went missing. The statement indicated that some miners entered the gold mine illegally without permission from the company and were met with the collapse. Currently, rescue workers are still searching for the missing miners inside the mine. The statement did not mention the time of the accident. It emphasized that the geological conditions of the Karlois gold mine are complex and entering the mining area without permission would pose a serious risk to life. It urged individuals not to illegally enter the mining area for mining operations.
