Oil prices rose slightly before the meeting between Trump and Putin.
Oil prices edged higher, with U.S. President Trump and Russian President Putin set to hold a meeting today. West Texas Intermediate crude futures for nearby delivery rose 0.1% to $64.02 a barrel, while Brent crude futures for nearby delivery increased slightly by 0.2% to $66.95 a barrel. White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said on Thursday that the two leaders will hold a joint press conference after their meeting in Alaska. Analyst Ramy Zeytouni of Ramy Zeytouni LLC reported that market participants are cautious ahead of the meeting on the Ukraine issue, fearing that it may result in a relaxation of sanctions on Russian oil or lead to stricter measures against buyers of Russian oil.
