The General Administration of Market Supervision reported the national food safety supervision and sampling inspection situation in the first half of the year.
In recent days, the State Administration for Market Regulation released a report on the national food safety supervision and sampling situation in the first half of the year. The report shows that in the first half of the year, a total of 2.639 million batches of food were sampled for safety supervision nationwide, with an overall non-conformance rate of 2.61%, a decrease of 0.17 percentage points from the same period last year. The non-conformance rates of grain processed products, edible oils and fats, livestock and poultry meat and products, meat products, and dairy products were 0.37%, 0.46%, 0.61%, 1.04%, and 0.03% respectively, indicating that the overall food safety situation is stable. Compared to the same period last year, the non-conformance rates of 22 categories of food including dried nuts and seeds, aquatic products, and food for catering have decreased, while the non-conformance rates of 16 categories of food including fruits, fresh eggs, and specialized medical formula food have increased. The main reasons for non-conformance in the sampled products were exceeding pesticide residues, exceeding the permitted range and amount of food additives, organic pollution, microbial contamination, and exceeding the limits for veterinary drug residues. The market supervision departments have promptly initiated investigations and disposals in accordance with relevant regulations for non-conforming products, in order to strictly control food safety risks.
