Insider: Trump's list of Federal Reserve Chairman candidates expands to 11 people, including senior Wall Street strategists.
Two government officials who declined to be named revealed that the Trump administration is considering 11 candidates to replace Federal Reserve Chairman Powell when his term expires in May next year, including three individuals who have not previously been publicly nominated. These new members include JPMorgan's chief market strategist David Zervos, former Fed Governor Larry Lindsey, and BlackRock's chief investment officer for global fixed income Rick Rieder. They are included in the list along with the 8 candidates previously confirmed by CNBC, including Fed Vice Chair Bowman, Fed Governor Waller, and Fed Vice Chair Jefferson. Officials also confirmed that the candidate list includes Mark Salomlin, who served as an economic advisor in the Bush administration, Dallas Fed President Logan, and former St. Louis Fed President Brad. The officials described a "deliberative process," in which Treasury Secretary Benson will meet with all candidates, screen the list, and present the final list to the president for a decision. The size of the list and the described process indicate that a decision is not imminent and may take quite a long time. However, officials declined to provide a timeline.
