White House: Nvidia and AMD may be required to hand over 15% of their revenue in China, or expand it to more companies.
According to a report from the US Consumer News and Business Channel, the White House confirmed on the 12th that two US chip manufacturers, Nvidia and AMD, have agreed to a special deal to hand over 15% of their chip sales revenue in China to the US government in exchange for export licenses for related products. The White House said that this agreement may be expanded to more companies in the future. On August 12th local time, White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt said at a press conference that currently this agreement only involves these two companies, "but in the future it may be expanded to other companies." She also mentioned that the US Department of Commerce is still studying the relevant legal basis and specific operational methods, and details will be further explained by the Department of Commerce.
