On August 11th, the Sichuan Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics released data showing that in July, the consumer price index for residents in Sichuan decreased by 0.4% compared to the same period last year, which was 0.1 percentage points larger than the previous month; on a month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.4% compared to the previous month. Specifically, in July, the prices of fresh vegetables in Sichuan decreased by 3.9% compared to the previous month, while the prices of fresh fruits decreased by 1.7%, and the price of pork increased by 0.5% compared to the previous month. The slight increase in pork prices was mainly attributed to the reduction in production capacity in the pig industry advocated by relevant departments, control of secondary fattening, and the expectation in the market that the imbalance between supply and demand for pigs will improve, providing some support for pork prices. In addition, due to the peak season for summer travel, prices for airplane tickets, tour packages, hotel accommodations, and transportation rentals in Sichuan all increased in July. The data shows that in July, airplane ticket prices in Sichuan increased by 20.1% compared to the previous month, tour agency fees increased by 13.9%, hotel accommodations increased by 5.0%, and transportation rental fees increased by 4.8%.
