Adidas new sandals suspected of plagiarism from Mexican indigenous people apologized.
The latest woven sandals "Oaxaca Slip On" launched by the German sports goods company adidas have been accused of plagiarizing the designs of indigenous people in Mexico. adidas and their Mexican-American designer collaborator, Chavarria, have formally apologized for the incident. In a statement, adidas said that the design inspiration for Oaxaca Slip On comes from a design in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca, with roots in the traditional attire of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. The company apologized for the incident and reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating with the Tehuantepec community in a way that respects their cultural heritage.
