Billionaire investor Bill Ackman posted on X platform on Sunday, suggesting the merger of government-supported enterprises Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. He stated that this move would help lower mortgage rates and achieve significant synergies in operations and transaction prices. Ackman has held shares of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for over a decade. He mentioned that the merger would also reduce government regulatory costs and risks, as only one agency, the Federal Housing Finance Agency, would be needed for regulation at that time.
