According to reports from Xinhua News Agency, South Korean government departments said on the 10th that due to a significant increase in the price of dried seaweed domestically, the government plans to restart the dried seaweed reserve system to stabilize market prices. If the dried seaweed reserve system is restarted, it will be the first time in nearly 20 years that the South Korean government has implemented this system again. The South Korean government previously implemented the dried seaweed reserve system from 1979 to 2006. The price of dried seaweed in South Korea has been rising since last spring and remains high this year. Data released by the South Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation shows that as of the 8th, the average retail price of dried seaweed in the country is 1347 Korean won for every 10 sheets, an increase of 41.5% from previous years.
