Softbank is taking over Hon Hai's electric car factory in Ohio, and Son Masayoshi intends to bring the latter into AI investment.

Earlier this week, Foxconn agreed to sell its electric vehicle factory in Ohio for $375 million, with the Japanese SoftBank Group as the buyer behind this deal. SoftBank's move is aimed at launching the $500 billion US Gateway Data Center project with OpenAI and Oracle. According to sources familiar with the matter, SoftBank is trying to get Foxconn involved in its plans to build AI data centers and infrastructure in the United States, and taking over the Ohio electric vehicle factory is a result of this effort.
