China's largest freshwater lake, Poyang Lake, has been experiencing a continuous drop in water levels, with a decrease of over 1 meter within a week. As of 8 a.m. on August 8th, the water level at the Poyang Lake station had dropped to 11.92 meters, and at the Xingzi station, a landmark hydrological station of Poyang Lake, the water level had dropped to 11.97 meters. This indicates that the water level of Poyang Lake has fallen below 12 meters, entering the low-water period.
