OpenAI CEO: Communicating with GPT-5 is "like talking to an expert in any field"

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said at a press conference on Wednesday that GPT-5 is an "important step" towards the path to general artificial intelligence, which is a hypothetical stage where artificial intelligence will have the same level of thinking ability as humans. Altman said, "GPT-4 feels like you're talking to a college student. With GPT-5, for the first time, it feels like you're talking to an expert in any field, like a doctoral-level expert."
