According to reports from Taiwan's "United Daily News", Japan's Tokyo Electron (TEL) stated on the 7th that they have dismissed a Taiwanese employee involved in the leakage of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) technology. TEL stated that they will not tolerate any acts of stealing secrets, and they have taken disciplinary action against the former employees of their Taiwanese subsidiary involved in the case, and fully cooperate with the judicial authorities' investigation. Several local media outlets in Taiwan revealed on the 6th that the world's leading wafer foundry TSMC had a shocking incident of 2-nanometer advanced process technology leakage, with the leaked information pointing to TEL. Informed sources revealed that multiple former TSMC employees were suspected of attempting to obtain key proprietary information related to the development and production of 2-nanometer chips during their tenure. Three of the individuals involved were part of the 2-nanometer trial production team, and they used their phones to take a large amount of information, which then flowed to Tokyo Electron employees. TEL is a shareholder of Japans chip "national team" Rapidus. Rapidus announced the successful trial production of 2-nanometer chips on July 18, a remarkable achievement that shocked the industry.
