Asian chip-related stocks and Apple suppliers' stocks are fluctuating. Earlier, Trump said he would impose a 100% tariff on imported products containing semiconductors, but companies that transfer production back to the US will be exempt. TSMC ADR rose after the news, with the company's factory in Arizona accelerating. Apple announced earlier that it would invest an additional $100 billion to shift more production to the US, driving up its stock price. According to SBS, South Korean Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo said the chips of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are not subject to the 100% tariff. Korean memory manufacturer Samsung Electronics briefly rose 3.2%, while competitor SK Hynix fell 2.1%. Apple supplier LG Innotek rose 2.8% and LG Display rose 2.1%. Japanese chip equipment maker Tokyo Electronics fell 5.4%, Advantest fell 3.3%, and Disco fell 2.9%. Apple suppliers TDK rose 2.3% and Sharp rose 2.2%.
