In early trading, the main sectors of the US stock market are mixed. The internet stock index ETF rose more than 1%, while the energy industry ETF rose nearly 1%. The biotechnology index ETF and the semiconductor ETF both fell by over 1%.

Walmart's stock rises more than 3%, July marks a record high for Walmart+ membership.

On Wednesday, Walmart rose over 3% to $102.68. On the news front, Morgan Stanley recently released a research report maintaining a "buy" rating on Walmart with a target price of $115. The bank stated that Walmart's paid membership service Walmart+ reached a record high in July 2025, which signifies the continued effectiveness of the retail giant's strategic layout in the e-commerce field. According to Morgan Stanley's AlphaWise monthly consumer pulse survey data for July, Walmart+ had approximately 28.3 million members (adjusted for user response error to 18.4 million), equivalent to a household penetration rate of about 22% in the United States (adjusted to 14%). This figure represents an increase of 1.1 million from June, the highest record since the survey began in September 2020. Over a rolling three-month period, Walmart+'s membership grew by approximately 27% year-over-year.

In the Chinese market, sales of Novo Nordisk's semaglutide, a diabetes drug, also fell by around 11% in the first half of this year. During the investor conference call after the financial report was released, Maziar Mike Doustdar, the current Vice President of International Business at Novo Nordisk and soon-to-be CEO after taking over from Zhou Fude on August 7th, responded to investors' concerns about the competitive challenges facing semaglutide in the Chinese market. Doustdar stated that while sales of GLP-1 diabetes drugs in China have declined, sales of weight loss drugs are gradually increasing. He explained that the decline in diabetes drug sales was due to changes in distributor inventories; and that the semaglutide weight loss drug, which was only approved last year, is currently in the ramp-up stage and has not yet penetrated further into second, third, and fourth-tier cities.
