According to the Ministry of Commerce's official website, on August 3, 2025, the American company Cerence Operating Company filed an application with the U.S. International Trade Commission under Section 337 of the U.S. Tariff Act of 1930, alleging that specific smart TVs exported to the U.S., imported into the U.S., or sold in the U.S. infringed its patent rights. They requested the initiation of a 337 investigation and the issuance of limited exclusion and prohibition orders. The case involved 15 companies from the United States, Japan, Mexico, Vietnam, China, and other countries.
