Amazon (AMZN.US) restructures its audio business: closes Wondery podcast studio, lays off about 110 employees.

According to the Zhixun Finance APP, Amazon (AMZN.US) is closing its Wondery podcast studio and will be splitting its audio services related business as part of its overall business reorganization. According to a source familiar with the plans, this change will result in approximately 110 layoffs. Additionally, Wondery CEO Jen Sargent will also be leaving the company. Existing Wondery series will either be merged into Amazon's Audible platform or become part of a new "Creator Services" team within the company, which will be responsible for producing character-driven programs.
