According to data released by energy market tracking firm SNE Research on Monday, the total battery usage of global electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles, and hybrid vehicles in the first half of this year was 504.4 gigawatt-hours, an increase of 37.3% compared to the same period last year. However, the market share of the three major South Korean battery manufacturers LG Chem, SK On, and Samsung SDI was 16.4%, a decrease of 5.4 percentage points compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, Chinese battery manufacturers continued to expand their market share, with CATL maintaining its global leading position with a battery usage of 190.9 gigawatt-hours and a market share of 37.9%.
