According to documents submitted by mining companies accounting for 62% of global production, analysis shows a slight increase in copper production in the second quarter. These companies reported a 4.7% increase in production compared to the previous quarter, which is typically a slow season. Comparing year-on-year, copper production has increased by 2.5%, with production from Glencore and Freeport decreasing but offset by increased production from companies such as Codelco, MMG, and Rio Tinto. Jefferies also stated that they expect global copper production growth to gradually slow down as existing mine resources are depleted.
