On August 3 local time, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers announced that workers at Boeing's fighter jet assembly plant in the St. Louis area had voted to reject the company's most recent labor contract proposal. According to the union's decision, approximately 3,200 workers will begin a strike at midnight on August 4 local time. It is reported that Boeing's final offer included pay raises and more vacation time, but was rejected by the union in the vote. Members of the union are primarily responsible for manufacturing Boeing's fighter jets, missiles, and ammunition, as well as producing components for Boeing's commercial aircraft models.
