China Taiwan region launches moon exploration program, says will be in space as soon as 2028.
Taiwan's first lunar exploration mission has been launched in cooperation with international space agencies or manufacturers. The plan is to integrate two scientific mission payloads into a lunar lander and launch it as early as 2028. On August 3, according to Taiwanese media reports, the Taiwan Space Center announced the start of the lunar exploration mission. The report stated that the two mission payloads, the "Lunar Vector Magnetometer" and the "Fukien Moon Ultraviolet Telescope Experiment Instrument," are expected to be ready by the end of this year. The Space Center stated that Taiwan's lunar exploration program is planned to be carried out in three stages: the first stage is the "orbiting the moon" mission to accumulate system integration and observation capabilities; the second stage is the "landing on the moon" stage where payloads will be actually delivered to the lunar surface; and the third stage will involve more difficult tasks such as "sampling from the moon and returning to Earth," "Mars exploration," and "asteroid exploration."
