Tourists were washed away by flash floods on the ancient Wusun Road? Baicheng, Xinjiang: 158 hikers were safely rescued, 2 unfortunately died.
The Emergency Management Bureau of Baicheng County reported that at 10:26 am on July 30th, the Baicheng County Public Security Bureau received a report from the public that a hiker named Chen had accidentally fallen into the water and went missing 20 kilometers from the southern exit of the Wusun Ancient Road. After receiving the report, professional rescue teams from the Baicheng County Public Security, Emergency, and Fire Departments immediately rushed to the scene to launch a full-scale search and rescue operation. At around 1:40 pm, Chen was found, but had unfortunately passed away. Later that day at around 9:40 pm, another deceased hiker named Zhou was found in the river 4 kilometers from the southern exit of the ancient road, with preliminary investigations by the Public Security department indicating signs of drowning. As of 11 pm on July 31st, with the hard work of the rescue teams from the Baicheng County Public Security, Emergency, Fire, and Health departments, 158 hikers have been safely rescued, while over 300 others have been properly placed in camps and fire stations along the ancient road with sufficient supplies and safety measures in place. Currently, on-site rescue operations, accident investigations, and post-incident arrangements are proceeding in an orderly manner.
