Guangdong six major associations jointly propose: oppose price internal spiral, promote offline catering consumption.
According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the growth rate of national catering revenue and catering revenue above the designated limit in the first half of this year has decreased by 3.6 and 2.0 percentage points respectively compared to the same period last year, suggesting a weakening growth momentum. The head of the Guangdong Catering Service Industry Association pointed out that catering enterprises are facing unprecedented challenges: on one hand, the "price war" triggered by high subsidies from food delivery platforms has intensified industry competition, severely squeezing profit margins of enterprises; on the other hand, rising costs of ingredients, labor, and rent are putting increasing pressure on business operations. Therefore, on July 31st, the Guangdong Catering Service Industry Association, together with five other associations including the Guangdong Liquor Industry Association, the Guangdong Chain Operation Association, the Guangdong Commercial Real Estate Investment Association, the Guangdong Cantonese Cuisine Industry Development Promotion Association, and the Guangdong Chaoshan Cuisine Cultural Research Association, issued a joint proposal calling for the entire industry to stop price competition and focus on quality, promote dine-in consumption, develop offline businesses, strengthen industry self-regulation, and organize activities to stimulate the vitality of the food economy, collectively enhancing the reputation of "Cantonese food."
