On July 31, Beijing held a press conference on flood control and disaster relief. Xia Linmao, a member of the Beijing Municipal Committee and Executive Deputy Mayor, stated that from July 23 to 29, Beijing experienced heavy rainfall. As of 12:00 on July 31, there were 44 deaths and 9 people missing in the city due to the disaster. Among them, 31 people died in the elderly care center in Tai Shitun Town, Miyun District, and 4 of the missing persons were village party secretaries who were on the front line of rescue operations.
