Extreme convective weather conditions resulted in Beijing's Chaobai River Basin achieving six historical extreme values.
Starting from July 23rd, Beijing has experienced continuous precipitation for 147 hours, which is classified as extreme severe convective weather. The drainage basin of Chaobai River has set six historical extreme values. According to the standards of the China Meteorological Administration, extreme severe convective weather refers to hourly precipitation of 80 mm or 3-hour precipitation of 180 mm, as well as weather phenomena such as hail with a diameter exceeding 5 cm. This round of precipitation meets both criteria and has continuously produced extreme severe convective weather in Miyun District, which is historically rare and highly destructive.
