Jiangxi Xunwu Pumped Storage Power Station starts construction with a total installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts.
The Xunwu pumped storage power station located in southern Jiangxi province started construction on July 27. As a key project in the national "Medium and Long-Term Development Plan for Pumped Storage", the station has a total investment of 7.967 billion yuan and a total installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts. The project plans to have the first unit generating power by December 2030 and fully operational by September 2031. Once completed, the station's annual power generation can reach 1.51 billion kilowatt-hours, which can meet the electricity needs of 750,000 households, increase Jiangxi's grid peak regulation capacity by 3 million kilowatts, save 470,000 tons of standard coal each year, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.17 million tons, and decrease emissions by more than 65 million tons over the entire lifecycle. During the construction period, it is expected to drive GDP growth by 20 billion yuan, create over 3,000 job positions, and increase annual tax revenue by over 100 million yuan.
