Miyun Reservoir discharged at 15:00 today.
Due to the impact of the current heavy rainfall, the inflow of water into the Miyun Reservoir has significantly increased. The maximum peak inflow reached 6550 cubic meters per second, exceeding the historical maximum peak flow. The Miyun Reservoir plays a crucial role in flood control and peak shaving by fully storing the upstream floodwater to ensure downstream safety.
Currently in the peak flood season, in order to deal with the incoming water, the Miyun Reservoir will start releasing water at 3 PM today to gradually lower the water level below the flood control level. During the water release period, the water levels of downstream rivers such as Chaohai River, Baihe River, and Chaobai River will rise significantly with fast flowing currents. Residents in downstream areas such as Miyun, Huairou, Shunyi, Tongzhou, and other districts should closely follow announcements, obey river control requirements, stay away from the rivers, and ensure safety.
