In the first round of the "recall" vote, the Kuomintang wins. Taiwan's public opinion points to the expression of anger and dissatisfaction towards the Democratic Progressive Party government.
On the 26th, voting was held for the recall of 24 Kuomintang legislative representatives in China. The tally showed that all these recalls did not pass, and the Kuomintang won in the first round of the "big recall" vote. Public opinion on the island believes that this result is the latest expression of Taiwan's public opinion, representing the strong anger and dissatisfaction of the Taiwanese people towards Lai Ching-te and the Democratic Progressive Party authorities. There are currently 113 legislative representatives in Taiwan, with the Democratic Progressive Party holding 51 seats, a minority party. Public opinion believes that the "big recall" of Kuomintang legislative representatives, ostensibly initiated by "civil groups," is actually orchestrated by the Democratic Progressive Party authorities, intending to reverse their disadvantage in the legislature through recalls and by-elections, and to break out of their governance dilemma.
Voting took place from 8 am to 4 pm that day. During the subsequent counting process, the votes for the 24 recall cases all led with "do not agree to recall" over "agree to recall," and all ultimately failed. The recall vote for the suspended mayor of Hsinchu City, Ko Hung-an, was also held that day and also did not pass. Taiwai news commentator Xie Zhichuan said, the "one-sided" result reflects the anger of the Taiwanese people towards Lai Ching-te and the Democratic Progressive Party authorities. Since coming to power, the Lai Ching-te administration has become authoritarian and dictatorial, persecuting political dissidents through judicial means, and constantly undermining cross-strait relations. This vote result is the latest expression of Taiwan's public opinion, with the pro-"independence" Democratic Progressive Party being rejected by public opinion, it can be said to be a complete defeat.
