Schneider Electric releases "Smart Grid Collaboration" insight report: breaking through data center energy challenges with a three-tier architecture.
During the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, Schneider Electric released the "Electricity and Calculation Collaboration - Energy Challenges and Responses in Data Centers" insight report. By 2030, the electricity consumption of data centers in China may exceed 700 billion kilowatt-hours under high scenarios, accounting for 5.3% of the national total electricity consumption. Nearly seventy percent of surveyed enterprises expect their average annual electricity consumption growth rate to exceed 15% in the next three years, and 61% of surveyed enterprises plan to build or expand smart computing centers in the next three years. The report points out that data center energy management will face triple challenges of power supply stability, cost control, and carbon emission management. Therefore, the Schneider Electric Business Value Research Institute proposed a three-tier architecture of "electricity and calculation collaboration" in the report, from the bottom up to connect power supply, computing load, and collaboration mechanisms, to promote deep integration of computing and power resources.
